Road trips are all and good but sometimes it’s just good to stay home and chill out. Included below are some photos from the past week’s adventures. I’m sorry that their are not more photos from the Extreme Cowboy Race but as luck would have it, lighting in the arena was not conducive to good photography. You wouldn’t have seen much anyways.

Craig Cameron gave some colt starting demos during the Extreme Cowboy Race & Equine Expo over Labor Day weekend.

Other trainers such as Steve Lantvit, Richard Winters, and Tim Austin were also on hand to give other various horsemanship clinics.
If you’d like to learn more about Extreme Cowboy Racing, are interested in competing, or just want to attend an event in your area check out the Extreme Cowboy Association website for more info.

Sept. 6th I was in Bowling Green, KY for the United Producers, Inc. Ag Day to attend Curt Pate's Effective Stockmanship Clinic.

Curt challenges the current cattle handling mentality used by many today by suggesting a gentler, more effective form of stockmanship using low pressure and body language.
You can read more about Curt Pate’s stockmanship methods in my latest post on Cattle Call by clicking here.

On Thursday Sept. 8th I was one of the guest speakers at the Kentucky Forage & Grassland Council Forage Field Day held at the UK Beef Unit. I spoke about my ongoing MS research project and considerations for producers taking cattle off of E+ tall fescue pastures.

We had about 60 producers in attendance and spoke to them in small groups of about 20 each. This was my first time guest speaking at an event like this so it was a pretty big deal to me!
A flyer about the event can be found here and also be sure to visit KFGC’s website to learn about other upcoming forage related events.
Until next time, keep the bale rolling…
