Things have been a little silent, a little stagnant here on Pearl Snaps lately. While I’m not one to make excuses usually, I’ll say life has taken me for a bit of a whirlwind ride lately. I’m still trying to get my bearings and figure out what direction the good Lord wants me to head.
My plate is full between writing and editing my thesis, my freelance work for three different publications, and fretting over where and if I will have a job once I’m finished with my graduate degree. Please keep me in your prayers! I sure need them!
In the meantime, enjoy a few photos of my recent life adventures of the last few weeks. I’m going to attempt to do a better job at posting on here from now on, with at least one post a week. Thanks for putting up with my chronic tardiness! And as always, if there’s something especially that you’d like to learn or hear more about, feel free to leave suggestions or comments for me below. - July 10th I attended an Advanced Grazing School hosted by my Alma mater, University of Kentucky.

- We learned about alternative forages for summer grazing…

- …and ultra-high density grazing (mob grazing) among many topics.

- July 14-18th I was in Phoenix, Arizona attending the 2012 ADSA-AMPA-ASAS-CSAS-WSASAS Joint Annual Meeting (http://www.jtmtg.org/2012/). It’s where all the animal scientists meet up to discuss the latest research findings. This was also my first sighting of palm trees. It turns out these particular trees (Phoenix dactylifera) can be cultivated for date production.

- Janet Riley of the American Meat Institute interviewed renowned animal welfare expert, Temple Grandin, during the JAM opening general session.

- I presented a research poster of my graduate research. If you’ve got questions about what exactly it’s about, I’ll share more in an upcoming post. Feel free to leave questions or comments below though!

- While in Phoenix I got to hang out with some of the Feedstuffs crew including editor and good friend, Sarah Muirhead.

- Penn State had a team in the animal and dairy science quiz bowls. They took how the Champion titles for both events. This definitely made me Penn State Proud.

Do be patient with the future – whirlwind life phases can be wonderful due to all of the choices and opportunity presenting themselves, but they can also make us cranky, impatient and impulsive when nothing develops as quickly as we’d like (I know this holds true for at least myself!) I will send positive thoughts your way!
